Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Donating blood is a small way to give back to the community and it does so in such a powerful way! Transportation Services is proud to partner again with LifeStream Blood Bank for the annual Donations for Citations Blood Drive. This year’s event will be held October 30-November 1, 2024. The unique program gives students and employees the chance to donate blood as an alternative to paying a citation fee. Donors will receive full credit towards a single parking violation with a fine up to $81. However, if late fees have been accrued those additional fees would also need to be paid.
If you attempt to give blood but are denied for any reason, you will still qualify. You also have the option of having a friend or co-worker donate in your name. In fact, we encourage everyone to donate blood regardless of whether you have a citation or not. A receipt will be given to each person that attempts to donate (at the TAPS location) and you can use that receipt towards your own citation, give it to a friend to pay off their citation, or give it to TAPS staff to pay off a random citation done through a raffle.
We hope you join us in this important and fun community event. We will have music, drinks, snacks and exciting giveaways such as In-N-Out gift cards, t-shirts, and more (while supplies last). Plus, everyone that attempts to donate blood will automatically be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a bike package!
The program provides necessary support to fulfill the blood donation needs for our local community. The blood drive will be held at Transportation Services on October 30th to November 1st from 9am-3pm. You can schedule a time online in advance for Oct. 30th, Oct. 31st, or Nov. 1st.
